Loan officers knew the COVID-19 pandemic threatened to derail purchase season, drive interest rates to record lows, and leave Americans feeling unsure about making their next mortgage payment. Caliber Home Loans Branch Manager David Thomas had to make a game plan to adjust to market conditions during the pandemic, which promised to be the most volatile in his 16 years in mortgage lending.
